Story Behind The Scarf

The Hermes Vif Argent scarf, designed by Dimitri Rybaltchenko in 2007, derives its name and design concept from the French term "Vif Argent," meaning "Quicksilver" or Mercury. This design choice pays homage to Emile-Maurice Hermes, the founder's grandson, who was nicknamed "Vif Argent" due to his love of speed and travel.

The scarf's design, featuring a striking, almost 3D-like effect of liquid mercury flowing from the Hermès logo, visually represents this nickname.
