Path of the Paddle is the most successful canoeing book published in North America, an acknowledged classic. It is an intelligent blend of canoe instruction and artistry that appeals to novices and experts alike. Paul Mason, Bill Mason's son, and himself a canoeist, has completely revised Path of the Paddle to reflect today's techniques and equipment. Known as the Paddler's Bible, this book is a terrific addition that will attract a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts.

Featuring black and white photographs of step-by-step instructions and a 16 page color insert, Path of the Paddle covers a broad range of topics-everything from the basics, such as parts of the canoe, to advanced techniques for whitewater maneuvers. Other subjects include:

safety precautions
paddling strokes
running rapids
what to do when things go wrong, e.g. wipeouts!
tracking and lining
how to choose a canoe
no-trace camping.
