Story Behind The Scarf

The Hermes Clic-Clac scarf, a classic design by Julia Abadie from the late 1970s, has a story steeped in equestrian history and the brand's heritage. The design is said to resonate with the sounds of carriages and horses, reflecting Hermès' origins as a harness maker. The specific illustrations in the scarf draw inspiration from treasures found in the Émile Hermès collection, which is a key source for many early Hermès scarf designs. The scarf's dynamic composition features sinuous lines of leather blinkers and intricate interlacing patterns reminiscent of 19th-century English horsewhips.
