Story Behind The Scarf
The A Propos de Bottes scarf, designed by Xavier de Poret for Hermès, features a riding boot motif and the phrase "A Propos de Bottes" (meaning "on the subject of boots"). It highlights Hermès' equestrian heritage, as the brand began as a saddle and harness manufacturer in 1837. The design was first released in 1962 and has been reissued, including a 1997 version with a navy blue base and accents in various colors. Hermès, known for its elaborate silk-screening process, applies each color individually to the silk.
